Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a job?

Getting Started

When you find a job that you would like to apply for, simply click the "Apply for this position" online link on any job description page.

If you are a new user, you will be asked to create a Careers account, starting with "New User Registration". This will allow you to:

  • Store your CV and contact information so that you can apply for jobs without having to re-enter your data each time
  • Have personalized job notifications emailed to you when new positions become available
  • Save your information so that you can easily make updates when there are changes

To register, all you need to do is provide your email address and create a unique username and password. You can also connect using LinkedIn, Facebook or Google +. Remember to select a username and password that are easy for you to remember so that you can quickly access your information in the future. Should you forget your password in the future, use the "Forgot your password? link to quickly regain access to your account and continue with your application.

If you are a returning visitor, log in using your existing username and password to access your Careers account. You will have the opportunity to update your previously submitted CV and contact information before applying.

Please note that your Careers account is separate from your Amazon customer account.

Completing Your Application

Complete and submit your application in a few easy steps:

  1. Log in

Using the user name and password you created during registration or your Facebook, Google + or LinkedIn account.

  2. Enter your personal information

You will be prompted to enter information about where you are located and how best to get in contact with you.

  3. Complete the job questionnaire

Answer a few additional questions about yourself and your experience. In addition, please help us by indicating where you first learned about this job opportunity.

Before you complete this step, be sure to indicate whether or not you would like to receive email notifications when future job opportunities become available. This will allow us to keep in touch with you when new positions meet your interests.

  4. Attach your CV and cover letter

Attach a copy of the CV and cover letter that you would like us to review. Providing a cover letter with your application is optional. You may attach up to five separate documents. Each document may not exceed 500kb. Most file types are accepted; however our search tools may not be able to fully analyze image files or compressed files. In addition, space is provided for you to cut and paste a text copy of your CV and cover letter.

  5. Confirm your submission

When you've successfully completed your submission you will see our confirmation page thanking you for your application.

I submitted my CV but haven't heard from Amazon yet. What's the status of my application?

We search our CV database regularly and then contact people we'd like to learn more about. Unfortunately, we're not always able to make personal contact with people who are not going to be invited in for interviews, but we do encourage you to check on your application status inside your career account.

My CV has changed. How do I update/edit my career profile?

It's easy! Sign in and click on "Update your profile". From there, upload your most recent CV. The system will automatically update your CV for any past and future jobs you apply to through Amazon's global career site.

I wanted to apply for a position that I saw here, but now it's not listed. May I still apply?

We regularly post new positions and remove positions that are no longer open or have been filled. It's ideal when you can apply for a specific position; it makes our process of reviewing applicants easier. However, you may apply without indicating a specific open position.

What is your interview process?

It depends on the team and location. We often begin the process with a request for a work sample, and/or a phone interview. If there's interest on both sides, we invite people in for an on-site interview, typically with the hiring manager and several teammates. Our interview process for University Recruiting varies.

How should I dress for the interview?

Amazon has a casual work environment. While some positions in our fulfillment centers may limit certain clothing for safety reasons, most of our offices are filled with people wearing everyday clothes. Dress nicely but comfortably. A suit and tie won't impress anyone here.

How long do you take to make a decision?

We understand that great people are in high demand. Once we've finished interviewing all of the selected candidates, and completed reference and background checks, we strive to make a final decision within a few business days.

What does it take to be successful at Amazon? What do you look for in candidates?

When evaluating candidates, we look for characteristics that determine success at Amazon rather than a specific set of experiences. These characteristics are known as our leadership principles. Whether you are an individual contributor or a manager of a large team, you are an Amazon leader and are guided by these principles.

Should I apply separately for each job that interests me?

You can apply for more than one job by indicating all positions you are interested in and quoting the relevant reference numbers. You need only apply once to be considered for similar roles within the company. However, if your CV or contact information has changed please reapply.

Should I send samples of my work (writing, code, designs) with my application?

If you are selected for an interview, we may request samples of your work, so please do not send them with your initial application. However, if you have public copies of your work available that can be seen online, please include the link on your CV.
